The short version: your health and workout data stays on your iPhone and Apple Watch unless you choose otherwise. If you train with a human coach and switch on sharing, your workouts go to that coach, and to nobody else. If you subscribe and ask Mo for a note or a plan, a short summary of the one session in question is sent to be written about — never your raw heart rate, never your route, and no copy is kept. Both are set out in full below. Your training itself is never kept by us for any other reason. Mo Mo Move shows no ads and runs no trackers. You can use the whole app without an account; if you choose to link an email address, it keeps a copy of your app settings — your name, your personal bests, your target times and your Apple Watch workout screens — and nothing else.

What stays on your device

What is sent, and when

The AI coaching features are part of the paid plan, and they are the reason it exists. The app names Anthropic on screen and lists exactly what is sent — Profile → How AI works, and from the subscription screen before you pay. If you would rather Mo did not use them, cancel or don't start the subscription: everything else in the app, including your plan, is built on your iPhone.

The AI coaching features make network requests when they run — building your weekly plan revision, generating a workout from your description or a screenshot, or writing a coach note. Those requests go to our server (api.momomove.app, hosted on Cloudflare) and are processed by Anthropic's Claude API. They contain:

Our server keeps no copy of the content of these requests. It stores only anonymous installation keys and per-day request counts (kept per installation and per subscription — both anonymous identifiers) that are deleted after 35 days. Anthropic processes each request to generate the response and does not train its models on your data.

Counting installs

So we can tell how many people use Mo Mo Move and how many subscribe, the app registers itself with our server on first launch and about once a day after. It sends:

It sends nothing else. No name, email, age, sex, weight or height. No workouts, heart rate, routes, paces or any figure calculated from them. Apart from the two choices described above, everything Mo Mo Move knows about your training stays on your iPhone and Apple Watch, exactly as described above.

Your email

Linking an email address is optional and the app works exactly the same without it. It exists for one purpose: so the settings you would otherwise have to type in again survive a new iPhone or a reinstall.

Personal Training Mode (training with a coach)

If a coach invites you and you redeem their code, that coach writes your training plan. This is the one situation in which your workout data leaves your device — and only if you switch on Share my training, which is off unless you turn it on.

What your coach sees, if you turn sharing on

Your workouts, the way you see them yourself:

Your name, age, sex, weight, height, and anything you have written in injuries, medications or notes are not sent. They stay on your device.

Why it is off by default

Because it has to be a real choice. Your coach can still write and publish your plan without it — they will simply be working blind on what you actually did. We do not make sharing a condition of linking to a coach.

Turning it off, and deletion

You can turn sharing off at any time in Profile. That stops anything further being shared. On its own it does not delete what your coach already holds — and neither does leaving Personal Training Mode.

To delete what was already shared, you have three routes, and the first does not depend on anyone else:

How long your coach keeps it

While you are linked to a coach and sharing is on, your coach keeps your shared training for as long as you are working together — that is what they are coaching from.

When you unlink, a 90-day clock starts. Ninety days after you leave, we automatically delete every workout, route, heart-rate record and completion history your former coach holds for you. You do not have to ask, and neither does your coach. The window exists so that taking a season off and coming back does not cost you the history your coach was working from; if you re-link within it, nothing is deleted.

If you want it gone sooner, use Delete my shared data above.

And if your app simply goes quiet for a year, we delete it anyway. If you stop using Mo Mo Move without unlinking — you delete the app, or change phone, or just stop opening it — nothing would otherwise tell us you had gone. So if the app has not checked in for 12 months, we automatically delete every workout, route, heart-rate record and completion history your coach holds for you. Opening the app at any point resets that. You stay linked to your coach either way: this deletes the data, it does not end the relationship, and if you come back your plan is still there.

The two windows are different on purpose. Ninety days is what follows you telling us you left. A year is what follows silence, which we have to guess at — and an injury, a pregnancy or an off-season should not cost you the training history your coach plans your return from.

Subscriptions

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. Manage or cancel any time in your device's Settings.

Who processes data

We do not sell data, share it with advertisers, or use third-party analytics.

Deleting your data

Delete the app and your local data goes with it. Health data written to Apple Health remains yours, in Apple Health, under your control. The AI features keep no server-side account to delete.

If you shared training with a coach: turning sharing off in Profile — or leaving Personal Training Mode — stops any further sharing right away, but does not delete what was already shared. To delete that, use Delete my shared data in Profile, which erases every workout, route, heart-rate record and completion history your coach holds; or ask your coach to remove you from their roster, which also deletes the plan they wrote; or email us (below). If you simply unlink and do nothing, we delete it automatically 90 days later — see Personal Training Mode.

Children

Mo Mo Move is for people aged 16 and over. It is not directed at children, we do not knowingly collect their data, and linking an email address asks you to confirm your age first. If you believe a child has linked an address, email [email protected] and we will delete the account.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date.
